The prof ended the lecture with the following statement:
“you're going to live a little while, and going to have a nice time. But you'll die, and everyone you know will die. And everything you do, along with humans, will fail. So why the hell does it matter? In medieval times, it was god's plan. In modern times, this is a kind of a crisis. The sun will eventually burn itself into a crisp, and nothing in particular will matter in the end. Nothing is meaningful anymore. No more natural structure in the universe.”
