So Bethany (my roommate) has recently introduced me to the wonder that is Psych on USA. It’s a lovely show…but slightly irrelevant to this post. After a very long convoluted process that started with Psych, I get to the Monk website (yet another crime type comedy show on USA about an obsessive compulsive detective) and they have a poll about peoples greatest fears. Most of them are pretty standard like death, needles, and heights but then there are a few that might be slightly less than “conventional” shall we say. Many people know that I have an extreme dislike for mushrooms…one might even call it a fear. Well, according to this poll, a full 2% of people who voted in the poll state that mushrooms are their biggest fears as well. Somehow, this makes me feel better.
Here is a link for anyone who cares
I think I’ve decided that I like this delineated list format for my posts, since I think they’re easier to convey information without being too convoluted.
1. Registered for classes this morning at 5:55AM; it went surprisingly well without too major of a hitch. It seemed the server wasn’t as overloaded as it was for Winter quarter. Anyway, since I know you’re *so* interested in what classes I selected.
- Arch 150 (Intro to Architecture) – 3 Credits
- LSJ 363 (Law in Society) – 5 Credits
- Engl 131 (English Composition) – 5 Credits
- Astr 150 (The Planets) – 5 Credits
The interesting part about this schedule? No class on Friday. Ever.
2. There is someone in my International Relations section who is the biggest dumbass I’ve ever encountered. I kid you not. He loves to talk yet has no idea what he’s saying and usually ends up stating the blindingly obvious as some sort of profound insight. To cap his stupidness off, this pitiful specimen of humanity asked the question that is just stunning: “What does suffrage mean?”
… I know. What a fucktard. “Look at me, I’m too stupid to pay attention to my previous 13 years of schooling, and can’t figure out to work a god-damned search engine to figure it out for myself.” I have no idea how this dumbshit was admitted here, I suspect some weird form of affirmative action, except for stupid people. I think he surpasses “Grey Sweater Guy” in Soc Fall Quarter on the irritating and stupidity scale, but not by much. I secretly wish to see them get ran over by a bus, while arguing who can talk the longest without saying anything important.
3. Hershey’s has started making the most amazing morsels of chocolaty goodness ever conceived: Kisses filled with Coconut Creme. You will remain in a state of bliss while consuming them.

it sucks… a lot
Particularly when
- 25% of your grade rides on the exam
- Your teacher changes the number of questions from 20 to 16
- You go over the problem at least 8 times, and you still can’t get the right answer, yet the next question(with the same format) you have no problems with.
- You study really hard for an exam, and totally bite it
Statistics can go shove a pop-tart up it’s mathmatical behind and hold it’s head in a giant vat of boiling oil with anchovy bits in it.
1. Do deaf students who have helpers who transcribe the lecture into words on a scrolling screen get to keep the copy of the transcript, or do they have to copy down what they think is relevent? If they get to keep the entire spoken lecture as a copy, I think we all should have access to this. Disabilities doesn’t entail special privilages.
2. It has come to my attention that the UW has started out sending admission offers, and quite a bit eariler than last year, as I recall. I’d like to extend my warmest congratulations to those who have been accepted into the comforting womb of higher education that is the University of Washington.
3. I took apart a Pur Filter for entertainment. You can see a picture of it here.

No response…
First of all, I apologize for the delay between substantive posts, as many of you know it’s the middle third of winter quarter so it was the month of midterms and essays. Thankfully that’s winding down towards finals in a few weeks so I have a short respite from major assignments and studying. For whatever that’s worth (which I suspect isn’t too terribly much).
I really enjoy my current schedule: it’s giving me 17 credits but there are really two main subjects I have to focus on; 10 of those are political theory and the associated writing link. I haven’t nailed down my tentative schedule for spring quarter, but I’m currently looking at LSJ 363, Com 201, Engl 131 and Arch 150. Because of the load required with LSJ and Engl I might switch out Com for Art 140. It depends on my mood the day of registration (six days from now!) and how the classes fill up. Since I have sophomore status now it might be slightly less stressful to successfully snatch the courses I’d prefer.
So what else? Oh hmmm. I suppose I’ve decided I need more monitor real estate, which entails a new video card (7900) and a 24″ or 30″ Dell LCD. That should be nifty.
I still like squirrels.
Lecture started and I’m posting this now.
